Canada Screenwriters is based at PAL, the Performing Arts Lodge, in Vancouver.

About Canada Screenwriters

Canada Screenwriters will hold monthly meetings at PAL, on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm. This is a venue for writers to get scripts ready for production in films, Games, TV, plays, documentaries, Internet, and Information products

At Canada Screenwriters meetings, scripts will be critiqued for development. Many meetings will also be devoted to various aspects screenwriting.

The objectives of Canada Screenwriters :

  • It serves as a venue for writers to offer feedback on each others works
  • Welcomes both experienced writers andwriters just entering the fields of screenwriting or playwriting.
  • Practice pitching scripts
  • developing series bibles for TV shows
  • It gives writers the opportunity to sometimes hear their scripts performed by actors in live readings. This is very helpful as a way for writers (and others) to see how a script plays out when actors perform it, and is useful to find ways to improve a script (if needed)
  • It is an organization that embraces modern technology, including the Internet and Web 2.0 sites, and explores new avenues for writers to independently practice their craft and make money at it.
  • It welcomes all script writers with equal respect, whether they write dramas, documentary scripts, game scripts, or scripts for information products.
  • to help screenwriters find paying venues to practice their craft and even make money at it (apart from the usual funding agencies)

Cost: It will cost $48 a year per member. Guest may audit one meeting before joining.

NOTE: Be on time. There is only a 15 minute window to enter a Canada Screenwriters meeting, after which time no one else will be allowed in to attend the meeting.

Canada Screenwriters lives in accordance to the ideals of Canada as a nation where all people of all walks of life, backgrounds can harmoniously live, work, and creatively collaborate with each other, whatever their personal differences. Hostility, arrogance, or nastiness are considered to be inferior means of expression in Canada Screenwriters, while friendly and constructive discussion is warmly welcomed (however flawed one may feel a script is).
